An Addition to the Abromovich Collection

Russian magnate Roman Abromovichâ??s $300 000 000 commission of the Eclipse will increase his own private yacht collection to four, turning it into the largest collection in the world. Abromovich already owns the Pelorus, Sussurro and Ecstasea, with each having its own unique, remarkable features. Abromovich also previously owned the Le Grand Bleu yacht which used to hold the title of the worldâ??s largest privately owned vessel. This yacht was presented to Abromovichâ??s friend Eugene Schivdler in 2006 and is currently for sale again.

The Pelorus is the worldâ??s 11th largest yacht and before the commissioning of the Eclipse was the largest yacht in Abromovichâ??s collection. The yacht was originally built for another businessman who sold it to Abromovich after one year. The yacht was then modified to its new Russian ownerâ??s specifications, including an additional helipad, increased security and stabilisers. This is Abromovichâ??s yacht of choice to sail the western Mediterranean and travels down the Suez Canal in winter.

Unbelievable Features

Types of Yachts

Yachting has become one of the most luxurious past times for any upscale boater. Sailing the open waters brings all passengers on a yacht to a relaxing place where the cool ocean breeze and warm sun come together. For any first time sailing yachter, though, there are many choices in the lifestyle of yachting. Before deciding on a yacht to purchase, consider the options and classifications for yacht sailing.

For the beginner, a small, day sailing yacht may be the perfect fit to give you a feel for the open waters and yacht controls. They are often called dinghies, which is a popular term among fellow sailors. A day sailing yacht is meant for typical weekends or long days for yachting, but they have no overnight cabin. Day yachts provide a cubby for important items and an area to find shelter from ocean spray, but overall their use is mainly for a day of cruising with friends and family.

For longer sail yachting, weekend yachts can provide facilities for short, vacation trips. They are designed to allow beaching for an overnight camping, or to take a break from the open water. They have a small cabin with a bed and facilities to keep items for overnight stays. The bed usually has a capacity for two or three people.

Yacht Insurance

Saturday, September 19, 2009 16:13 No Comments

Yacht insurance is very important for people who own yachts. It is a safety net for the yacht owner in case of accidents, damage to the yacht, or any kind of repairs that may be needed. Especially in the case of luxury yachts, yacht insurance becomes very essential, since the yachts themselves are expensive. And when these are rented out for charters, there is every possibility of minor or major damages to the yacht. This is where the insurance coverage helps, to cover the costs of repairing the yacht.

Having yacht insurance is not necessarily a compulsory obligation on the part of the owner, but yet most people go for one. It saves them a lot of worry and money as well. Also, insurance agencies will cover the costs even if the yacht is stolen or if parts of the yachts are stolen. Yacht insurance need not necessarily become an expensive affair. An insurance broker can set up a fixed quote for you to pa each month, which will reduce the overall cost that you pay to keep the insurance. However, when choosing the yacht insurance quote, you need to ensure that it is in accordance with the market standards.

Yacht insurance comes in different schemes. Some of them will cover costs only till the cost of the yacht, while others will cover costs of accessories as well. Owners who rent out yachts for charter will do well to take an insurance that covers both yacht and its accessories. One way of reducing the insurance quote costs of the yacht insurance will be to pay a larger amount in-excess, which is the initial payment that is made towards the scheme.
